I am available for part-time remote work as…
Film Programmer, Programming Manager, Film Festival Coordinator, Speaker/Host/Moderator, Reviewer/Critic
I am an emerging film programmer seeking a remote film programmer position at a prominent Canadian film festival. A film programmer position would allow me to combine my love of film and my project management skills to bring diverse contemporary Canadian and international films to audiences and support independent filmmakers. I would love to bring all I’ve learned in my years of programming to another Canadian festival.
As a film programmer for the International Film Festival of Ottawa (IFFO) at the Canadian Film Institute (CFI) over the past six years, I have gained experience in every aspect of programming, including researching and watching films, liaising and negotiating with distributors, scheduling, writing program notes, and hosting guests. I am particularly interested in sharing films by women, LGBT+ folks, and other underrepresented filmmakers. In 2020, I created The Gaze, a screening series I program and host that highlights diversity in film and encourages the audience to share their thoughts about what they see on screen. My favourite feature films I’ve brought to IFFO include Tiger Stripes, Shiva Baby, and Elaha.
The majority of my role at the CFI is administration, team organization, and project management. I keep the CFI team on track with timelines, goals, and scheduling with Google Workspace and Airtable. I am very adept at our ticketing and registration platforms, Eventive and Eventival. I haven’t met a software or online platform yet that I haven’t been able to master. Teamwork is integral to any festival; I communicate and work efficiently with all members of our team, primarily remotely, and supervise several contract positions throughout the year.
While looking for programming opportunities at Canadian festivals over the past few years, I have been especially interested in festivals that support their local communities as well as the broader Canadian and international film community and that prioritize diverse representation in all aspects of their programming and initiatives.
I am eager to bring my programming and film critique experience, dedication to showcasing diverse films, and fresh enthusiasm for Canadian cinema to a film festival programming team.
