Rated F for film, feminism, and feelings.
After many years of the podcast, I now write film reviews and pieces on the Rated F Substack, with plans to reboot the podcast and add video essays to the Rated F content.
Rated F was a podcast hosted by two film-loving friends from 2015 to 2021. Tish and Juliana talked a lot about women’s representation, made a disproportionate number of drunk episodes, made review videos, wrote blog posts, and made other fun film content.
Over the six years of the podcast, Tish and Juliana…
presented three panels on women in media at Ottawa Comiccon
were asked (based on the description of their first panel) to be substitute film critics for CBC Radio’s All in a Day.
recorded 75 episodes: 46 regular, 11 special, 18 drunk (Yes, I’m embarrassed by that drunk episode ratio.)
wrote 15+ blog articles about film and TV
made 35+ videos about film
attended the 2017 Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF)
won a trip to the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) twice!
Tish and Juliana also co-hosted The Doctor’s Companions: A Doctor Who Rewatch Podcast with their New-Whovian friend Linda. After rewatching 10 seasons, we caught up to the airing series, so watched one story from each Doctor of Classic Who and moved over to Torchwood. In May 2019, we presented ‘The Historical Women of Doctor Who’ at Ottawa Comiccon. Tish appeared in a CBC Radio segment on the announcement of Jodie Whittaker’s casting as the Thirteenth Doctor.
Juliana and I parted ways as podcast partners, but I intend to reboot the podcast with guest hosts someday. I continue to write about film on the Rated F Substack and finally joined Letterboxd after a decade of tracking my movie-watching myself.
