Tiny Tale ❧ Fireflies

Deep in the forest
I lost my way
The sun began to set
Alone and afraid
I shut my eyes
And prayed for the light of day
Lifting my head
I saw a glow
I thought it was a crackling fire
Not one, but a thousand
Not burning but dancing
Across the forest floor
A miracle, I thought
I am saved
I asked them to show me the way
A path they parted
To my left
They became my guides
Through the trees
I saw my home
The chimney’s smoke unfurling
I ran ahead
But turned back
To give thanks
There was nothing but trees
In the forest

It’s a poem today! Now try not to get that “I’d get a thousand hugs from ten thousand lightning bugs” song stuck in your head all day. Oh no, I’ve done it.
